Did you know that the Philippines is the world’s largest producer of Abaca, (Musa Textilis), plant of the family Musaceae?
Did you also know that Happy Island Catanduanes province of Bicol Region, Luzon is the largest producer of Abaca in the Philippines?
The above video and this picture was the result of my first ever experience and realization in my entire lifetime when it comes to the wonderful world of Abaca and it took place in Baras, Catanduanes province.
At first with little thought I said to myself that the Abaca surrounding me were banana trees because they were really a look alike of banana trees.
I was just reminded by our local-community effective team tour guide in Baras, Catanduanes that they were Abaca.
The Abaca plant is closely related and resembles the Banana plant (Musa Sapientum)
Abaca plant is also called Manila hemp, Davao hemp, and Cebu hemp
You must be really grateful as a Filipino that the Philippines is the world’s largest producer of Abaca.
I love to congratulate and thank the native Filipino people of Happy Island Catanduanes province, Bicol Region, Luzon for making it happen as the largest producer of Abaca in the Philippines.
I’m very happy people of Catanduanes province because of your priceless diligence.
